citizens”. Do you agree with this 

statement? If yes, provide one detailed 

example of any EGovernance project 

undertaken by any municipality in 

any part of India. Provide features

justify with appropriate reasons

eGovernance does not facilitate trust.

Answer 1

The cause of lack of public trust depends on the responsive nature of leaders. Citizens will appreciate a government system that has extreme performances at the least possible cost. Current reforms focus upon provision of faster or better needs and services.

The reasons why it lacks public trust include;

a) It is not understandable to low literacy people.

b) It is not understandable to poor, disabled or elderly people.

c) It is not suitable to non- native language people.

d) The ICT facilities are not available to all citizens.

e) E-governance has Political will and Power issues since it is mostly controlled by the political class.

f) Privacy and confidentiality concerns from the public with their personal data.

g) Social, geographical and economical disparity issues have to be removed and proper infrastructure is required to establish egovernance.

h) People especially in rural areas are often not expert users and need guidance and support

for their transaction thus making usability and acceptance.

i) There is Lack of infrastructure necessary to run it in rural areas.

j) The system does not have cheap and simple procedure to operate.
