A successful organizational change will depend on leaders. A leader plays the following roles especially when an organization is undergoing change:

1. Role model- a leader must portray behaviors that he or she wishes the employees to have. This because employees will watch leaders for consistency between what they speak and what they do.

2. Decision making- since they control resources such as equipment, money and people, they have the authority to make decisions and good decisions will result in success when there is change.

3. Communication- since the leaders are the voice and the face of change, the way they communicate should show that they are bold and this will increase their respect from the employees. This makes things easy while initiating change.
