Please do not accept the first offer; they anticipate you to haggle, and compensation is always a subject of discussion. While most recruiters will make you the most excellent offer, others will make you the best offer they have. Asking is the simplest way to find out. Prepare to take two steps forward. Maintain a healthy balance of attention on the current work and planning for the next step. This keeps you from becoming complacent. "What knowledge, skills, relationships, and experiences do I need to gain to succeed?" ask yourself. You tend to lean toward your dominant idea and what you think to be true.
