Training programmes are helpful to avoid personnel obsolescence.
"I WANT FULL LONG ANSWER"
Personal obsolescence results when an employee no longer possesses the knowledge or abilities needed to perform successfully. It may results from a person's failure to adapt to new technology, new procedures and other changes. Training and development programs are helpful in avoiding personnel obsolescence as it fosters the initiative and creativity of employees and help to prevent manpower obsolescence, which may be due to age, motivation, or the inability of a person to adapt himself to technological changes. Furthermore, employees on a personal basis gain individually from their exposure to educational experiences. Again, training programs seem to give participants a wider awareness, an enlarged skill, an enlightened noble philosophy, and make enhanced personal growth possible which is important in avoiding personal obsolescence.
Training allows employees to acquire new skills, sharpen existing ones, perform better, increase productivity and be better leaders. Since a company is the sum total of what employees achieve individually, organizations should do everything in their power to ensure that employees perform at their peak. Training also enhances employee performance, reduce employee turnover, and improve company culture.
Training also contributes to the achievement of the organizational goals and objectives in that if an organization wants to double its profits by introducing faster and highly computerized textile machines and implement a Japanese concept of management, instead of recruiting new graduates who know how to use the new machines, it will be more appropriate to train the existing workforce. This will reduce the cost of recruiting new employees as well as leading to growth of existing employees.
