Disadvantages of employing people of cross-cultural values

Employing people of different values brings advantages and challenges, such as communication issues, different cultures of work, conflicts over decision-making and adverse cultural stereotypes.

Communication problems.

Asian fishing companies employing Pacific Islanders are facing differences of emphasis in communications issues. It is also a problem to differentiate direct and indirect communication. Mandarin Chinese, different from the peaceful language, is the most common language in Asia. Language differences hamper effective communication.

The Asian fishing enterprise that employs Pacific islanders is witness to the difference between multi-cultural workers in working cultures. Compared to the Pacific Islanders, Asian Chinese workers are more focused and hard at work. This leaves the majority of Asian workers to concentrate on hard tasks and not much in the Pacific

It is the work plan that distinguishes Asian and Pacific Islanders. The Pacific Islands are willing to work till night, while Asians are readier to work earlier than early in the morning.

Problems in decision making

Asian CEOs are known to take longer to analyze an idea before taking decisions, and they have seen this in Asian fishing industries that recruit peaceful islands who decide faster
