Maintaining an apolitical attitude from the public's perspective was a safe stance for shops in previous generations. Even if some executives have decided to covertly make personal donations or otherwise implicitly endorse their favorite party, the fear of alienating consumers has kept many organizations in the retail business from openly disclosing their political affiliations.
