Information plays an important role in supply chain performance by providing the foundation on which managers make decisions and on which supply chain processes make transactions.

Information permits managers to make decisions on how to improve performance of supply chain by providing supply chain visibility (Goswami et al .,2013).

Information acts as glue that permits other supply chain drivers to work together to develop a coordinated and integrated supply chain. Therefore it acts as a key supply chain driver.

Information technology has tools used to attain awareness of an information, analyze information and also, execute on it to improve the supply chain (Goswami et al .,2013).

Information systems are used to analyze and capture information which have an important effect on the performance of a firm.
