The Cook Islands is a group of islands with a mix-up of nations and has had troubles in trying to unionize its native members. It’s thus under political and social unrest. In traditional public administration, government officials get into office by merit and through process enacted by law which is not the case in the Cook Islands as portrayed when sir Albert Henry his family and party with best jobs in government and public service. The complexities in the administration of Cook Islands bring about inefficiencies and makes it difficult for accountability. Performance management was not well developed thus leading to issues of control and accountability. In response to these shortcomings, Cook Islands had various reforms with the aim of economic recovery. To correct the issue of the public sector that was overstuffed with personnel not performing their duties to the expectation of the public, it introduced Public Sector Act that would help streamline public service and also Employment Relations Act to help maintain good relations between employees and employers.
