Ms Cole owns a thriving company that manufactures scented potpourris and other products. She's getting ready to expand her sales team again and wants to promote one of the current sales representatives to team leader. This is a big step, and Ms Cole desperately wants that person to succeed because it would take a load off her shoulders. What advice could Ms Cole give her newly appointed team leader?
Advice to a promoted Team Leader
A newly promoted sales representative to a team leader should get advice on several factors. Ms. Cole’s promotion of her sales representative should come in handy with relevant advice that will aid in the expansion of her sales and growth of the company. First, she should advise him on setting clear goals that focus on the major aims of the company. Also, he should set definite standards for the team to understand what is expected of them and ways to achieve the team and organizational goals (Starbuck,2017). Ms. Cole should also advise the new team leader on being transparent with him about the activities going on if they are a positive or negative influence. Lastly, he should be advised to immediately address any issue with the team members, like their shortcomings.
