Alice Brown Manages a product testing lab. Although her team works normal hour (9am to 5pm), there are times when the product testers need to work after hours or even on the weekend. She doesn't have a supervisor there when these associates are working but is wondering whether she needs to. What would you suggest to Alice brown?
Suggestion on supervisions during overtime and weekend work
Working on weekends and extra time is equally important like work done on normal hours. Therefore, I would suggest that Alice should consider having supervisors around during the extra times. Work needs to be perfect, and supervision aids in making an organization achieve its objectives. Supervisors play vital roles in educating, coaching, and directing workers when they perform their duties. Therefore, I suggest Alice should engage them during the extra times and weekends to ensure product testers provide quality and efficient work. Besides, it’s the role of supervisors to counsel them in case of mistakes. However, workers need freedom and less pressure during the extra time because it’s sacrificed their time. Therefore, I suggest that Alice should select lenient yet efficient supervisors to ensure the workflow is as expected and there is successful output. She should also allow self-supervision, which boosts performance and workers’ morale (Bochatay & Bajwa, 2020).
