Management by objectives (MBO) is an extensive managerial system that incorporates vital managerial activities in a systematic approach aimed at improving the efficiency and effectiveness of achieving company goals and objectives. Consequently, there are a number of key MBO determinants. First is organizational goals, which are crucial to an organization's effectiveness but also need to be realistic and relevant. Secondly, employee objectives are also key in ensuring workers are focused on specific goals to work on. The final crucial determinant of a good MBO is the process of monitoring the progress of activities aimed at attaining the set organizational goals and employee objectives. Without these three it will impossible to make the most out of an MBO.
