For the correctional system to be able to successfully undertake the process of rehabilitation, there are various role players that are involved in the process. They include offenders themselves, correctional officials as well as the community outside the correctional centers. An offender must be willing to change his or her attitude to become a better person and, if that is not the case, rehabilitation will not be effective. In addition, the people who are responsible for the treatment of offenders while inside the correctional center, for example correctional officials, must have a clear understanding of the offenders’ needs to ensure that they are dealt with in a proper manner.
