Define 'law' and discuss the primary function of the law and rules in society
Law refers to a set of rules used for regulating actions of members of a certain country or community. The law is controlled and enforced by the authorities in charge, and follows certain procedures and customs so as to deal with business, crime, property, social relationships, finance and many others. The primary function of the law is to ensure that there is stability in social (settling unregulated disputes found in courts and tribunals), political (providing facilities for private arrangements between individuals, which is found in private law, criminal, and tort law ), and economic (provisions of services and the redistribution of goods found in legal systems¬ ) systems while allowing change. Social norms are unwritten rules of behavior that are acceptable in a society. They are usually set to protect the weak because if they are broken, they are at a disadvantage.
