In this case, the DNA evidence led the court to the identical twins and after DNA analysis the twins’ DNA was similar in a way that neither of them could be exclusively linked to the evidence. This means that at least one of them was in the crime scene but they could not tell who. Recently, scientists have been able to understand the development of embryo of identical twins. Since they originate from a single fertilized egg, they end up acquiring similar genetic mutations but the new developments have made it possible to pinpoint these mutations and tell the difference between the twins.
