Briefly explain how knowledge of southern Africa precolonial history can assist us in understanding historical development after 1652
1652 commenced the rule of the Dutch in the Cape to 1795. The Dutch were joined by the French and the Germans with the French fleeing religious persecution under King Louis XIV. Majorly, the occurrence of events from 1652 mainly involves the various nations that succeeded in ruling South Africa amidst the rise of the Khoikhoi, who ignited conflict because of the establishment of Dutch East India Company at the Cape. South Africa had a rich pre-colonial past which was disrupted by the European settlers. Through learning of the historical developments that occurred from 1652 onwards, we can use it to make arguable points on the current South African societies. Moreover, we can understand the behaviors of the Khoikhoi and how their culture have evolved over time to the present cultural norms and values. Historical developments are vital in understanding the present society we live in.
