Do you think the Vietnam War was a civil war or a war of aggression? Why?
Although the Vietnam War began as a civil struggle in South Vietnam, it evolved into a proxy war between Cold War nations. As a result, the Vietnamese suffered the greatest number of casualties during the war. It was part of the wider Cold War battle and the American fight against Communism's spread over the world, but it was not a direct confrontation between the two superpowers. The goal was to prevent the Communists from gaining control of Southeast Asia.
