Answer to Question #272195 in History for Imm

Question #272195

A modern jet airliner does pretty much the same thing as an airliner from the 1960s: it gets you there from here, in about the same time. Where’s the technological progress? Do scientific advances play any role in the progress we’ve described? Explain. Some travelers complain that the flight experience has gone downhill. Does this refute the claim of technological progress?

  1. As the average American gets larger, the average airplane seat is getting smaller, and airlines are packing them tighter together.
  2. It wasn’t so long ago that flight issues were generally pretty easy and inexpensive to resolve. Late for your flight? No problem, we’ll put you on another flight, maybe even another airline
  3. There were no baggage fees
