Discuss how European explorers viewed African history in the first half of the 20th century?
In the first half of the 20th century, European explorers viewed Africans as barbaric and African history was inadequate and unfit to them. With this mindset, Eurocentric historians periodized Africa in sequences as they thought fit and proper. Thus, African history has tended to focus more on events that coincided with the intrusive European explorers rather than experiences antedating them. Colonialism in the first part of the 20th century negatively impacted on conceivable aspects of Africa's life. Europeans wrote Africa's history from their perspectives rather than the continent's past realities.
