Answer to Question #260526 in History for DTh

Question #260526
  1. Contrast the documents by Lin Zexu and by Jules Ferry on the subject of European imperialism. What issues are most important to these leaders, Chinese on one hand and French on the other? Where do you think the two would agree about the state of the global economy and global relations? Where might they be most likely to disagree?
  2. Reflect on the documents from the pre-revolutionary period in Russia, the one by Lenin (“What is to be Done?”) and the Voices of Revolution excerpts. Do you agree with Lenin that revolutions are best led by a small elite? How do we explain the opinions of the workers in Putilov or Petrograd who are removed from the epicenter of the revolution and not seeing any of its promises fulfilled? How might one keep the support of those people?

Question 1

The most important issue for the Chinese and French leaders relates to diplomatic relations. In the next years, there is an increased likelihood that the global economy will increase while global relations decrease.

Question 2

I tend to agree with the idea that the small elites lead revolutions. This is because most of these small elites are the ones who face a lot of mistreatments due to the lack of revolution. The opinions of the workers showed a lack of trust in the revolution. In supporting the opinions of these people, there is a need for them to continue pushing for revolution.
