According to Hume, the self is made up of perceptions that are non –substantial. He also claims that as individuals what we never apprehend directly is the self. To me, Hume as a philosopher’s perception of self is what is most applicable to me. Since upon entering in what I refer to self, I usually stumble upon different perceptions of hatred or love, shade or light, and pleasure or pain. I always find catching myself in a perception
