Sovereignty refers to the supreme power within a territory such that the country administration majorly the executive has the ultimate control and overseer, has total authority in the decision-making process of the state and in the maintenance of order. It implies that the country should be controlled by outside sources such as precolonial powers and masters or should they influence its decisions rather than the international law or treaties that the country has signed for. In Africa, sovereignty is an important issue since many of the countries are still in control of their colonial masters such as the British, Germany, France, Italy, Belgium among others indirectly if not directly. Therefore, In Africa, sovereignty refers to the supreme power of the nation without the influence of the Western powers or the developed countries.
