The Cuban Missile Crisis was a 13-day conflict during the Cold War between the United States and the Soviets about the Soviet nuclear deployed missiles in Cuba. The Crisis originated from the United State’s failed invasion of Cuba in attempt to overthrow their newly formed communist government, causing the Soviet Union to aid Cuba by deploying their missiles on their territory for the purpose of countering the threat of America’s nuclear missiles in Italy and Turkey. Throughout the 13-day period, there was tension almost causing a cataclysm capable of annihilating the entire world. This could have easily resulted in nuclear war and the mass destruction of the entire globe, however due to the persistent diplomacy of both countries, a solution with the purpose of preventing any further conflict was reached before everything descended into irreversible chaos.
