The growth of economic development (imperial economy) led to a shift in demand for raw resources and markets to retail the manufactured goods. This, together with the increased European struggle brought about by nationalism, led to imperialism. Industrialized countries occupied colonies in the Americans, Africa and Asia to get raw materials and new markets to sell the manufactured goods.
