Many of the bantustans were not one geographical unit,they were patches of disconnected land.Why do you think the government created them in such a way?

The target of the apartheid was to separate the whites from the blacks. The Bantustans were homelands formed to restrict the blacks from living in the urban centres reserved for the whites. That meant they would not be under any form of protection from the government and would later on be removed from South Africa leaving it to be a white people country.
