From the 12th to the 16th centuries through the Umayyad Campaigns in India, the Arab Muslims exercised ferocity and cruelty towards the Indians while trying to convert the locals into Islam. Existing Indian Literature depicts the desperate situation of the Indians who were forced into slavery or given the option to convert. Even though the Hindu religion, which was predominant in India at that time, was receptive to all faiths, the mistreatment of the Brahmins (Hindu priests) by the Muslim Invaders prompted the Hindu faithful’s to put up a strong resistance against the Muslims even though there were local feuds among the Hindu empire. To date, Islam has not fully penetrated the Hindu faithful territories in India.
