The Age of Prosperity was not a time of growing material for all classes of Britons since the idea was mirrored by the prejudices, political tenets, occupation or previous condition of servitude of an individual’s expression of opinion. For example, bankers considered the tremendous gold stock in the country and great expansion in credit, were the basic causes of prosperity. To the manufacturers, they explained prosperity by pointing to the development of mass production that necessitated the consumption of more goods at lower prices. As a result, the Britons must pay tribute for the real cause of the Age of Prosperity.
