Why did history describe Hernan Cortez and other Spaniards as conquistadors and not explorers? What is the difference between the 2 terms/.

Hernán Cortés is not an explorer but conquistador because he conquered Mexico and demolished Aztecs. An explorer is someone who connects people by exploring (disclosing) something new, a conquistador is someone who conquers new territories.
