The first example is through the used barriers which were in form of dams and locks. The barriers were fixed in place to control the flow of water. Another example is coastal armoring. The aim of this method was to protect levees and sea walls. These method helped to protect low-lying land from river flooding and strong wave action. During emergencies, they raised sand bags.
