It is important that teachers and staff are familiar with first aid procedures related to blood injuries. First, the individual attending to such case should always avoid contact with the blood while comforting the student or pupil and moving them to safety if required. Second, the attendant should put on gloves. Third, the wound is flushed using warm water then it is pat dried and dressed to ensure that the wounded part is completely cover. In cases where the bleeding is continuous, pressure is applied using either a hand or a firm bandage. Fourth, any linen that is stained with blood or any blood fluid is removed and cleaned or disposed. Lastly, the attendant removes gloves and places them in a bio-hazard container and wash their hands in warm soapy water before drying them.
