On January 20, 1961, John F. Kennedy took the oath of office to become the nation’s 35th president. This event happened on the east front of the Capitol. President's inaugural speech was quite brief, the main aim of it was to commit the nation to service and sacrifice. The final words of the speech were: "And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country".
