I am really frustrated about semi colons so I just want to make sure that I have used it the right way in this sentence:
" We visited your restaurant last night ; I am afraid that the low quality of food really watered down our spirits"
" We visited your restaurant last night ; I am afraid that the low quality of food really watered down our spirits"

It is correct since semicolon connects the related independent clauses. However, full stop would be a better punctuation mark for these sentences.
