The above passage from the story impresses the reader from the first line and even the first word. Therefore, it is remarkable to note that every line was read quite seriously since the portrait of the man, which Kafka aimed to paint, was a kind of a person with under-reaction to the metamorphosis. Although the reaction of Gregor was unreasonable, it did not impact the reaction from the reading.
