In his travels, Odysseus tells of how he was returning home to Ithaca after the war with Troy. All his journey took 10 years. The first country was a country of wild people Ciconians, then there was a country of peaceful lotus-eaters or lotophages. Then Odysseus came to the island of giants, which were called cyclops. One of the cyclops (Polyphemus) killed people accompanying Odysseus. With the help of cunning and ingenuity Odysseus managed to blind the giant and escape. Then Odysseus got to the god of the wind Aeolus, then to the robbers of the cannibalistic Laestrygonians and to the sorceress Circe, who kept him prisoner for a year, and then sent him to the realm of the dead, so that Odysseus would know his future. With the help of ingenuity, Odysseus managed to sail past the island of Sirens. These creatures attracted sailors with their singing and then killed them. While sailing past the island of Thrinacia, sailors from the ship of Odysseus killed bulls that belonged to the god Helios. For this god of the sea, Poseidon struck ship of Odysseus with the storm. Odysseus alone survived the ship's sinking. After that, he landed on an island of Ogygia where he lived for 3 years with the nymph Calypso. Then, at the request of the gods, the nymph let Odysseus go home, where his wife (Penelope) was waiting for him for 20 years. During this time, many of the rich people of the island of Ithaca tried to become the husband of Penelope. Odysseus managed to secretly get on the island and then with the help of his son Telemachus he killed all the applicants for his throne and began a happy and peaceful life [1-3].
