In the poem, A Midlife Testimony, Chris Mann describes an unfortunate end of love between a couple who have passed through their youth with passionate love but has ended. The use of the word ‘but’ at the beginning of the second stanza gives the audience a picture of beautiful and enduring love between the couple.
From the second stanza, the author brings about the theme of a crisis facing adults as they struggle to grasp their career, family, and parenting.
