Foundations for Literacy is taught an hour a day four or five days a week for the school year.

Deep-processing strategies include "cross-text comparisons, creating alternative representations or questioning a source. Therefore, teaching strategies must develop core skills whilst also challenging readers. We are aiming to reach a state whereby, "success builds on success, because as students gain confidence, they are willing to work harder and can more readily learn.
