Teaching profession requires individuals who can deal with school dynamics and
complex human behaviour. Apart from cognitive support that teachers deal with
daily, they are also expectations to provide phyco-social support to learners. As a
student teacher, briefly identify at least five phyco-social factors and discuss their
risks to learners especially when they are not supported. (4x5=20)

loneliness- Loneliness entails students lacking companions in and out of school. This causes a sad feeling that makes students unable to concentrate in class.
social disruption- it entails the alteration, dysfunction, or breakdown of social life, often in a community setting. The disruption occurs due to issues such as migration, causing a culture shock to learners. therefore, they are unable to concentrate on their classes in the new environment.
bereavement- it entails the mourning period of a friend or relative. Bereaving students have emotional issues and are unable to focus on their education.
Learning environment- Students in an unconducive learning environment cannot focus on their education.
social status- Learners from poor families lack basic things like food, which hinder concentration on education.
