The Filipino values that must be upheld have their own strength and weaknesses. Some of the major strength of Filipino values include joy and humor, family orientation, hard work, and faith and religiosity. Family orientation brings about source of identity, joy and humor brings a cheerful and fun-loving character of life, hard work raises the standards of living of a person, while faith and religiosity enables the Filipinos to comprehend and accept reality in the context of God's will and plan.

Some of the major weaknesses of Filipino values include lack of discipline, extreme personalism, colonial mentality, passivity, and lack of self-analysis. Extreme personalism makes the Filipinos to take things personally and therefore, cannot separate objective task from emotional involvement. Lack of discipline brings about lack of standardization and equality, which makes the people to be good procrastinators. Lack of initiative makes the people to wait and be told what to do and also makes them to be tolerant to inefficiency. Lack of colonial mentality makes the people to lack patriotism or active awareness. Therefore, in any society, there are some characters that makes them weak while others makes them strong.
