Describe the event

The event was a boycott that took place in Montgomery after seamstress Rosa Parks refused to give a seat to a white passenger on a city bus.

Was a law broken?

Yes . Local laws dictated that African American passengers sat at the back of the bus while whites sat in front.

Whether the protest was for something unjust

The protest was about something unjust as the there was discrimination in the basis of skin colour on where one should sit in the bus and also giving seats for the Americans when the bus was full.

Did it draw attention

Yes, it drew attention as the public was involved and the bus management axtended the boycott for an indefinite time.

Whether punishment was accepted without resistance

The punishment was not accepted as it is the arrest that resulted into the boycott to fight for the rights of African Americans.

Whether it was violent

It was non- violent. Together with Martin Luther King Jr., Ralph Abernathy organized the Southern Christian Leadership Conference and helped lead the nonviolent struggle to overturn Jim Crow laws.
