How did the extreme right wing view the promotion of the use of Afrikaans in schools
The Extreme right-wing were concerned over the predominance of the English language over other languages recognized by the constitution of South Africa. The concern was the lack of political will to push for Afrikaans. Not enjoying the official status like the English language, there was the consideration to improve the status of the Afrikaans language by having it as a language of learning and teaching(LOLT). Relinquishing the linguistic human rights approach in favour of linguistic civil rights approach that embodies strategic actions and steps taken at ground level, in their everyday lives, by members of the Afrikaans community for the purpose of promoting the status of Afrikaans was the approach used by the extreme right-wing.
