Augmented Reality is a technology that allows social media filters like Snapchat and Instagram to transform a user's facial appearance.
While social media isn't the cause of BDD, it can exacerbate it. You may be continually taking and posting selfies, then scrutinizing and criticizing them. According to Argumedo, if a person has true body dysmorphic disorder, plastic surgery will make it worse.
