A persuasive text is any text where the main purpose is to present a point of view and seeks to persuade a reader. A persuasive text can be an argument, exposition, discussion, review, or even an advertisement.

There are five persuasive techniques which include; establishing trust and developing credibility, understanding the reader's purpose, and aligning your own, paying attention to language, considering tone, and using rhetoric and repetition. Comparisons. Metaphors, similes, and analogies are the persuasive writer's best friends. When you can relate your scenario to something that the reader already accepts as true, you're well on your way to convincing someone to see things your way. But comparisons work in other ways too.
