Reflect on the idea of curriculum mapping. What are the pros and cons of such an endeavor?
Curriculum mapping is applied for collecting data regarding the operational curriculum in a school, which is referred directly to the calendar. This process has various pros and cons. The pros include allowing educators to review the curriculum and check its weaknesses, gaps, redundancies, and misalignments. Also, educators acquire insight into student progress. Moreover, learners are able to brainstorm then generate new ideas. The learners also learn some of the new concepts and can clearly communicate ideas or thoughts. The possible cons include losing student's autonomy, lack of credibility, and ignoring the curriculum development process.
