1. The South African Schools Act (SASA) (Act 84 of 1996) aims to ensure that school systems provide uniform services for school governance, organization, and funding. It regulates education in both public and private schools.
2. The National Education Policy Act (NEPA) (Act 27 of 1996)- helps determine national education policies. It regulates the responsibilities of the education minister. The act led to the development Council of Education Ministers (CEM) and Heads of Education Departments Committee (HEDCOM).
3. The Adult Basic Education and Training (ABET) Act, 2000 (Act 52 of 2000)- provides for the formation of policies that determine funding and governance of public schools of adults. The main objective is to regulate the education and training of adult students.
