“true freedom is understanding that we have a choice in who and what we allow to have power over us”
use the above quote to discuss the extent to which we have attained “true freedom in South Africa.
For a long time, South Africa has battled for freedom; now, much has been accomplished, and the government is working hard to guarantee that freedom is a priority. To ensure that independence is achieved, many laws and constitutional amendments have been passed. In chapter ii of the Constitution, a bill of rights protects citizens' civil, social, and political rights. Every citizen has the right to freedom of conscience, belief, and opinion, according to this provision. People have had freedom of speech, political ideas, and leader choice in previous elections and political activity. Despite the achievements, attainment of freedom is still incomplete because the implementation of the constitutional requirements for freedom lacks to a certain extent; there are many reported cases of violation of freedoms over political issues and suppression of citizens.
