Reading for comprehension means that one reads to understand and not just the ability to read. In some instances, students only read through notes and they fail to understand what they are being taught. This is attributed to the method of teaching they are accustomed to in different learning institutions. Teachers play an important role in the manner students turn to be after schooling. It is imperative that the teachers especially those in training be conversant with reading for comprehension to be able to pass it down to students. This is because it will affect the content students will acquire when the same teachers are entrusted to take them through learning. Reading to understand helps children to effectively relate to their environment and understand different aspects as they grow.
