Answer to Question #234188 in English for Gaskin

Question #234188

Review the definition of learning you shared in your initial post in the Discussion Forum. Drawing on the reading (with a focus on the Schunk text) how would you refine your definition of learning, if at all? Explain what, if anything, makes your new definition more complete/comprehensive/inclusive?

Concentrating on the Bransford, Brown, & Cocking text, to what extent do you feel your school setting, personal classroom setting, or teaching philosophy approximates student-centered, knowledge-centered, assessment-centered, and/or community-centered learning environments? Justify with one or more examples from your personal school setting, teaching experience, or research.

According to Schunk text, learning involves acquiring and modifying knowledge, skills, strategies, believes, attitudes and behaviors. This idea is comparative to my initial definition of learning as a progressive process of acquiring new skills and knowledge pertaining particular factors that are essential in the society, however, Schunk text makes it more complete by including the modification of knowledge in terms of attitudes and behavior.

According to Bransford, Brown, & Cocking text, the new brain based research has led to development of new science of learning such as reading, writing and calculating. This is the normal set-up of a modern class, including visualization.
