Explain how to apply “explaining techniques” in your lesson. (10)
A teacher should apply "explaining techniques" in their lesson by clarifying context, reasons, causes or principles that underpin a particular phenomenon. they should speak clearly and concisely, use action verbs, include a time sequence and provide cause and effect relationship. The explaining technique should incorporate five techniques: naming and specifying the context, describing components/elements of the concept in particular order, explaining how the elements are interconnected, providing examples or modelling and summarizing the concept. the teaching strategy in the lesson should also promote explanations. Examples of teaching strategies that can be incorporated in the classroom to enhance explaining techniques include: making the explanation explicit, writing scientific explanations, project for enhancing effective learning (PEEL) or digital representations of the phenomenon.
