1. Identify 5 of the most used teaching and learning resources.
2. Is there any teaching and learning resources essential for successful teaching and learning that NOT provided by the DBE?
3. Do you think that DBE's supply of resource materials for teaching and learning are sufficient?
1. The teaching and learning resources referred to in the guidelines include any spoken, written or visual text or activity used or conducted by schools, for example:
Text books
Novels
Plays
Radio programs
Digital learning resources which include video, audio, text, animations and images.
2. Household repairs and self-defense tool-making teaching and learning resources: It is more frustrating having an appliance in your home break down and you have no idea how to fix it. Self-defense is an important part of life, and understanding how to protect yourself from the world's horrors may raise your confidence, keep you happy, and help you live a successful life. Students can become active learners by building or repairing homemade equipment. They become social learners who share their learning process with their peers. Finally, they become innovative learners who create and construct the necessary equipment. Self-made equipment is seen as a great instructional tool by future instructors.
3. DBE's supply of resource materials for teaching and learning are sufficient. The resources are very useful as supporting tools in teaching and learning by giving students the flexibility to access files and materials without the supervision of an instructor in a more informal way such as browsing the organisation's virtual learning environment whether at school or away.
