Connect A Documentary of a Typical OFW Family in the Philippines in globalization. 100 words
The documentary "A Documentary of a Typical OFW Family in the Philippines" explains how globalization has led to the improvement of people lifestyles and improving their overall living standards. Globalization refers to the trend toward countries joining together economically, through education, society and politics. Globalization has enabled easy access to many overseas Filipino workers (OFW) and overseas employment agencies overseas jobs which are not readily available in the Philippines. An example from the documentary is where many OFWs look at going abroad as a 'temporary project' to save up for something, usually the education of their children or a home. From the documentary, we see Maribeth move to Lebanon to work as a housemaid in the city. The documentary illustrates how Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) were able to transfer their labour ability to other countries to take care of their children. Labour migration has seen a labour market that was once dominated by men recruited to work in construction sites and oil rigs, women now make up almost 50 per cent of the labour migrants from the Philippines.
