Your school has introduced a feeding scheme programme, because it is classified as a quintile 1 and 2 school. The school principal has appointed you as the project manager. Your responsibilities include choosing the right meals for the children, managing the suppliers and food handlers, and devising a suitable policy governing the implementation of the feeding scheme.

2.1 You have been requested to write a letter to the parents of the learners, explaining the school feeding scheme policy. Mention at least two points, in line with the Department of Basic Education mandate, that you intend to include in your letter regarding the scheme. (4)

Dear parent/guardian

In compliance with the Department of basic Education, we would like to notify changes in the school's feeding program. The Department of basic education stipulates that schools should regularly adjust their feeding program to ensure students are provided with healthy and nutritious meals. Furthermore, the program should cater for students with special dietary issues such as ulcers and allergies. Therefore, the school would like to inform parents about a new feeding scheme that may become effective as soon as possible. Parents are expected to comply to any requirement as an outcome of this program which may include facilitating the necessary health documents for their children and supporting the scheme financially.
